freshman year of high school

my thoughts on my freshman year of high school 23-24
Time really flew by!! It felt almost rushed, and the feelings of nervousness, loneliness, and stress still linger. I can't believe that I'm now going to be a sophomore! Throughout the year, I kept on thinking that I wasn't doing enough, and I didn't work hard enough, but I now realize that school was really draining and I am amazed that I was even able to accomplish all the things I did, like getting straight A's second semester and playing 2 sports while taking all honors, and still somehow going to lab.
But I think that while I focused so much on my academics, I disregarded much of my social life, hence why I think I struggle a lot now with socializing, talking to people, and making new friends. It's been getting more difficult to connect with others despite having some common interests and I find myself panicking, because I see people around me who don't have problems talking to other people. I genuinely don't understand how people are able to keep conversations for so long, like what do they even talk about for all that time??
When I came into freshman year, I really looked forward to the high school events which had to be better than the middle school stuff which was really boring, but most of the events people rarely participated in. Except for homecoming, which was so fun!! I'm lowkey sad i missed the football game because that is literally what high school is all about, (especially in books and movies). But, i was at calgames, an offseason competition for robotics, and missed it. That is honestly really sad, like why did i even choose robotics over hoco? Anyways, I sort of like the culture of high school, besides all the stressing and worrying, because the people are more sensible I guess? They are more interesting (not in a weird way or anything like that) but well I hope you know what I mean. and i guess they're more attractive lol
i hope that in sophomore year, i will continue to work hard, have fun with friends, and make more lasting memories :)
